Summary: In univariate analysis, no significant reductions in either in-hospital mortality or COVID-19 severity were reported among statin users compared with non-users. However, after considering confounding factors, multivariable analysis showed that statin therapy may reduce the mortality and disease severity in COVID-19 patients.

Summary: The use of statin is associated with a significant reduction in mortality among COVID-19 patients, especially those with diabetes mellitus. The association between inpatient statin use and mortality is modified by the presence of diabetes mellitus, with reduced mortality observed in patients with DM but not in those without DM. These findings support further exploration through randomized clinical trials and suggest that inpatient statin use is safe for COVID-19 patients.
