Highly Enhanced Light-Matter Interaction in MXene Quantum Dots-Monolayer WS2 Heterostructure

Guru Prakash Neupane et al.

Summary: The discovery of Ti3C2 in 2011 has led to significant attention on the MXenes family, which shows great potential in tuning fundamental properties by synthesizing new structures. The methods for synthesizing MXene mainly involve immersing a MAX phase in hydrofluoric acid (HF) and processing at high temperatures. A simple and cost-effective synthesis method for Ti3C2Tx quantum dots (QDs) via chemical solution at room temperature has been introduced, showing potential for enhancing photoluminescence and generating novel quasi-particles species.

Amorphization activated FeB2 porous nanosheets enable efficient electrocatalytic N2 fixation

Ke Chu et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates experimentally that amorphous FeB2 porous nanosheets can serve as a highly efficient catalyst for the nitrogen reduction reaction, outperforming crystalline counterparts and existing catalysts. Amorphization of FeB2 enhances *N2H stabilization and reduces reaction barrier, showing promise for the development of earth-abundant TMB2-based catalysts for electrocatalytic N-2 fixation.

3D flower like 8-MnO2/MXene Nano-hybrids for the removal of hexavalent Cr from wastewater

Abdul Rehman Khan et al.

Summary: 3D flower-like 8-MnO2, MXene, and 8-MnO2/MXene in-situ hybrid composites were synthesized for effective removal of Cr (VI) from contaminated water, with maximum adsorption capacities of 235.65 mg g-1, 273.1 mg g-1, and 353.87 mg g-1, respectively. The study showed that the pH of the solution significantly influences the removal of Cr (VI) and the adsorption mechanism conforms to pseudo-second-order and Freundlich models. The hetero-engineered approach of synthesizing transition metal oxides with MXenes offers promising opportunities for efficient contaminant removal from water.
