Gymnodimine A in mollusks from the north Atlantic Coast of Spain: Prevalence, concentration, and relationship with spirolides

J. Pablo Lamas et al.

Summary: Gymnodimine A toxin has been detected in mollusks along the northern coast of Spain from April 2017 to December 2019 for the first time in Europe, with low prevalence and concentrations. The toxin is possibly produced by Alexandrium ostenfeldii and Karenia species, and shows geographical heterogeneity in distribution, posing a low risk to mollusk consumers.

Occurrence of domoic acid and cyclic imines in marine biota from Lebanon-Eastern Mediterranean Sea

Abed El Rahman Hassoun et al.

Summary: This study reports the presence of lipophilic toxins and cyclic imines in marine organisms collected from Lebanese coastal areas. The results showed that certain toxins were below the limit of detection in the marine biota, suggesting a low risk of health hazards from consuming seafood contaminated with these toxins in Lebanon.
