Non-targeted analysis and risk assessment of non-volatile compounds in polyamide food contact materials

Yajing Hu et al.

Summary: In this study, the dissolution precipitation method was used to extract small molecules in Polyamide (PA) kitchenware, and 64 different small molecules were identified through UPLC-QTOF-MS screening. Migration tests revealed that PA oligomers had the highest abundance among migrants. Risk assessment showed that most migrants were at a safe level of exposure, except for PA oligomers which exceeded their toxicological concern threshold (TTC).

New strategy to delay food spoilage: Application of new food contact material with antibacterial function

Xinrui Zhang et al.

Summary: Cu-bearing stainless steel as a food contact material has excellent antibacterial and antifouling properties, which can delay food spoilage, reduce the expression of spoilage traits and formation of biofilms by quenching quorum-sensing signals, create a bacteriostatic atmosphere for the surrounding environment, and provide a self-cleaning feature to avoid secondary contamination of food.
