High-Performance Liquid Chromatography Determination of Free Sugars and Mannitol in Mushrooms Using Corona Charged Aerosol Detection

Aneta Slawinska et al.

Summary: The refractive index detector lacks sensitivity, reproducibility, and is susceptible to interference. This study introduced a new method using HPLC-CAD for identifying and quantifying free sugars in mushrooms. The developed method showed good linearity and reproducibility, successfully detecting fructose, mannitol, and glucose in mushroom samples, with mannitol being the most abundant sugar in white Agaricus bisporus and trehalose in Pleurotus ostreatus.

A simple and sensitive sensor for lactose based on cascade reactions in Au nanoclusters and enzymes co-encapsulated metal-organic frameworks

Manli Guo et al.

Summary: This work involved the utilization of a zeolite imidazole framework containing AuNCs, β-Gal, and GOx to detect lactose, leveraging the advantages of extremely small size, excellent biocompatibility, and high stability. Analysis indicated that the composite possessed a crystalline structure similar to pure ZIF-8. The high local concentrations of the fluorescent probe and quenching agent in AuNCs/β-Gal/GOx@ZIF-8 led to a 3.4-fold increase in quenching rate compared to free AuNCs and enzymes in solution.
