Numerical simulation is used to analyze the diffusional flux of square cuboid particles in solution, either isolated or supported on a substrate. The flux is expressed as that to a sphere with an 'effective' radius, which depends on the particle shape, size, and support.
Numerical simulation is used to characterise the steady-state diffusional flux to square cuboid particles both isolated in the solution phase and supported on an inert substrate. The diffusional flux is expressed as that to a sphere with an 'effective' or 'equivalent' radius allowing an experimentalist to determine the expected total flux to the square cuboid. For any given square cuboid particle, the effective radius depends on the particle shape, size and whether the square cuboid is supported or not.
