New potential application of hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin in solid self-nanoemulsifying drug delivery system and solid dispersion

Jung Suk Kim et al.

Summary: This study used HP-beta-CD as a carrier to enhance the solubility and oral bioavailability of poorly water-soluble dexibuprofen in solid SNEDDS and solid dispersions. The novel dexibuprofen-loaded solid SNEDDS showed improved drug solubility and AUC compared to conventional methods. HP-beta-CD has potential as a novel carrier in SNEDDS for improving oral bioavailability of dexibuprofen.

Comparative study between high-pressure homogenisation and Shirasu porous glass membrane technique in sildenafil base-loaded solid SNEDDS: Effects on physicochemical properties and in vivo characteristics

Jung Suk Kim et al.

Summary: This study compared the effects of two emulsification techniques on solid SNEDDS, showing that solid SNEDDS subjected to HPH had better drug solubility and oral bioavailability compared to SB powder and SPG. Both emulsification techniques were able to convert the drug crystalline state into an amorphous state.

Effects of different physicochemical characteristics and supersaturation principle of solidified SNEDDS and surface-modified microspheres on the bioavailability of carvedilol

Ji Eun Choi et al.

Summary: In this study, a solidified self-nanoemulsifying drug delivery system (solidified SNEDDS) and surface-modified microspheres were developed and compared with carvedilol powder in terms of physicochemical characteristics, solubility, dissolution, and oral bioavailability. The results indicated that solidified SNEDDS exhibited the best performance among the formulations tested.

Intestinal membrane transporter-mediated approaches to improve oral drug delivery

Rudra Pangeni et al.

Summary: Targeting intestinal membrane transporters has become a promising approach to enhance the oral absorption of drugs. Recent approaches like absorption enhancers, modification of drug properties, and development of novel drug delivery vehicles have shown significant improvements in oral bioavailability. Dual-targeting of transporters in drug delivery is also being explored for enhancing oral bioavailability.
