Synthesis of carbon-supported bimetallic palladium-iridium catalysts by microemulsion: characterization and electrocatalytic properties

Summary: Carbon-supported bimetallic Pd-Ir catalysts were prepared via water-in-oil microemulsion method with different metal precursors concentrations, showing varying structural properties and catalytic activities for formic acid oxidation. The nanoparticles exhibited similar sizes regardless of Pd/Ir ratio, with different surface compositions and catalytic performances observed at low and high precursor concentrations. The Pd85Ir15/C catalyst displayed the highest activity, outperforming monometallic Pd catalysts.
