Nanoporous structured Sn-MWCNT/Cu electrodes fabricated by electrodeposition-chemical dezincification for catalytic CO2 reduction

Xiaolin Shao et al.

Summary: A novel method for fabricating nanoporous and structured Sn-based catalyst electrodes has been developed, which can achieve high HCOO- Faradaic efficiency in CO2-saturated solutions by controlling the contents of Zn and MWCNTs. The high performance is attributed to the special porous structure of SZMC with large surface area created by the addition of MWCNTs and Zn, followed by chemical dezincification.

Selective Reduction of CO2 to CO on an Sb-Modified Cu Electrode: Spontaneous Fabrication and Physical Insight

Hong Li et al.

Summary: By developing a facile galvanic displacement protocol, a copper electrode modified with antimony (Sb) clusters was able to selectively convert CO2 to CO with a Faradaic efficiency of approximately 82% and a stable reduction current for over 12 hours. In situ infrared spectroscopy showed a weaker and red-shifted CO band on the Sb-modified copper electrode compared to the unmodified copper electrode, indicating a change in electronic structure that weakened CO binding strength at copper sites. These findings offer insights for the rational design of high-selectivity CO2RR electrocatalysts through proper interfacial structure engineering.

Alkali metal cation effects on electrocatalytic CO2 reduction with iron porphyrins

Kai Guo et al.

Summary: This study investigates the effect of alkali metal cations (Na+ and K+) on electrocatalytic CO2RR with Fe porphyrins, demonstrating that the addition of Na+ or K+ significantly improves the catalytic activity. Through the tethered (N)18C6 to bind Na+ or K+, N18C6-FeP shows higher activity than FeP for electrocatalytic CO2RR.
