Serum matrix metalloproteinase-2 as a predictor of level of hypoxemia and severity of obstructive sleep apnea

Aleksandra Franczak et al.

Summary: This study found that serum MMP-2 activity was significantly higher in patients with OSA compared to controls. Patients with severe OSA had significantly higher MMP-2 activity than those with mild/moderate OSA and controls. Linear regression showed positive associations between MMP-2 activity in serum and AHI, as well as ODI.
