Combustion, performances, and emissions characteristics of diesel engine fuelled with diesel-aqueous zinc oxide nanofluid blends

Sorakka Ponnappan Venkatesan et al.

Summary: This study aims to find a new green fuel by mixing aqueous zinc oxide nanofluid with diesel to improve combustion and performance of diesel engines. Four different blends with varying dosing levels of the nanofluid in diesel were prepared and their properties were measured. Engine performance tests were conducted and the best blend, D + 50ZN, showed a maximum improvement of 5.38% in brake thermal efficiency and significant reduction in NOX, smoke, HC, and CO emissions.

Performance, noise and emission characteristics of DI engine using canola and Moringa oleifera biodiesel blends using soluble multiwalled carbon nanotubes

S. Manigandan et al.

Summary: An experimental study was conducted to determine the performance, noise, and emission characteristics of a two-cylinder diesel engine powered by Canola and Moringa oleifera blends. The study found that Moringa oleifera exhibited superior performance compared to canola blends, and the addition of multi-walled carbon nanotubes improved combustion and performance characteristics of the diesel engine.

Economic Considerations on Nutrient Utilization in Wastewater Management

Josef Marousek et al.

Summary: There is a consensus that Spirulina can be used for wastewater management and biorefining feedstock, although the economic challenges remain. Spirulina cultivated in wastewater serves as a biodiesel source, with oil extracted in feedstock turning into biodiesel. Blends of Spirulina biodiesel show improved efficiency and reduced emissions, contributing positively to greenhouse gas reduction.

Experimental assessment of performance, combustion and emission characteristics of diesel engine fuelled by combined non-edible blends with nanoparticles

Abdulaziz A. Al-Kheraif et al.

Summary: This study focuses on utilizing Candle nut and Soap nut biodiesel as an alternative to conventional fuel, incorporating nanoalumina at a concentration of 25 ppm to analyze emission characteristics and engine performance. The results show that the nanoparticles improve engine performance significantly due to the increased surface area to volume ratio of Al2O3, leading to reductions in nitrous oxide, carbon monoxide, and hydrocarbon emissions at higher concentrations. Among the various biodiesel blends, 30B samples demonstrate the best results in reducing emissions.
