A green ultra-lightweight chemically foamed concrete for building exterior: A feasibility study

Jinyan Shi et al.

Summary: The study prepared ultra-lightweight foamed alkali-activated concrete based on river sediment-metakaolin blends using the mixed foaming method of chemical foaming, demonstrating excellent mechanical and thermal performance. River sediment-based foamed concrete mixed with expanded polystyrene particles showed good high temperature resistance and water resistance.

Preparation of sustainable and green cement -based composite binders with high -volume steel slag powder and ultra fi ne blast furnace slag powder

Yu Liu et al.

Summary: The study found that adding UFS significantly enhances the mechanical properties of concrete composites with high-volume SS, improving close-packing effect between particles and pore size distribution of hardened pastes. While SS has a negative impact on early hydration and strength development, it shows a promoting effect in later stages. UFS visibly improves hydration and strength development, with a higher contribution ratio than SS.

Recycling hazardous water treatment sludge in cement -based construction materials: Mechanical properties, drying shrinkage, and nano-scale characteristics

Zhi-hai He et al.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of modified water treatment sludge on the composition and performance of Portland cement composites. It was found that when 10% of the cement was replaced by modified sludge, higher compressive strength was achieved. The modified sludge exhibits pozzolanic activity, improves the compactness of the microstructure, and reduces drying shrinkage.

Experimental study on full-volume slag alkali-activated mortars: Air-cooled blast furnace slag versus machine-made sand as fine aggregates

Jinyan Shi et al.

Summary: The study showed that as the substitution rate of ACBFS increased, the flowability and mechanical properties of FSAM significantly improved. Furthermore, the addition of ACBFS also helped enhance the compactness of the mortar's microstructure, thus improving the impermeability of FSAM. Additionally, specimens mixed with ACBFS exhibited good high temperature resistance due to the porous feature of the aggregate.

Properties enhancement of recycled coarse aggregates by pre-coating/pre-soaking with zeolite powder/calcium hydroxide

Hai-bo Hu et al.

Summary: The properties of recycled coarse aggregates have been improved through four different treatments in this study, with the most significant improvement seen in the RCAs pre-coated by ZP-C slurry. The treated RCAs showed reduced crush value and water absorption, as well as increased apparent density. Additionally, there is a linear relationship between crack width and crush value or water absorption of RCAs.
