MOF-derived core/shell C-TiO2/CoTiO3 type II heterojunction for efficient photocatalytic removal of antibiotics

Biyun Lin et al.

Summary: A novel core/shell C-TiO2/CoTiO3 type II heterojunction with remarkable photocatalytic activity for removal of ciprofloxacin (CIP) under visible-light illumination was successfully synthesized. The proposed photocatalytic mechanism study indicated that the main radical species in the photocatalytic degradation of CIP using C-TiO2/CoTiO3 as the photocatalyst is center dot OH. This work provides a new approach and insight for synthesizing core/shell heterojunction-based photocatalysts for various applications.

Ti-based MOFs: New insights on the impact of ligand composition and hole scavengers on stability, charge separation and photocatalytic hydrogen evolution

Jia Wang et al.

Summary: The study found that the combination of MIL-125-Ti with methanol exhibited higher activity in photocatalysis due to the effective scavenging of holes in the metal-oxo cluster by methanol and prevention of charge recombination, while holes in NH2 groups were detrimental to photocatalytic performance. Mixed-ligand MOFs follow a dual-excitation pathway, introducing new states and transitions.
