Sector-by-sector non-renewable energy consumption shocks and manufacturing performance in the US: Analysis of the asymmetric issue with nonlinear ARDL and the role of structural breaks

Oluwasegun B. Adekoya et al.

Summary: This study finds asymmetric responses of US manufacturing performance to sectoral energy consumption, with positive impacts on industrial and transportation sectors and negative impacts on others. Structural breaks play a significant role in the relationship, and on average, sectoral energy consumption has a positive influence on US manufacturing performance.

Research on imbalance between supply and demand in China's natural gas market under the double-track price system

Jian Chai et al.

Summary: Under the double-track price system, alternative energy prices and the spread between liquefied natural gas and pipeline natural gas have created a supply-demand imbalance in China's natural gas market, which may lead to a vicious cycle of mutual increase in the short term. Rising coal prices can alleviate the imbalance, and a new pricing policy should aim at promoting market-oriented reform.

The relationship of renewable energy consumption to fi nancial development and economic growth in China

Juan Wang et al.

Summary: This study examines the long-term and short-term impacts of economic growth and financial development on renewable energy consumption in China, finding that economic growth stimulates renewable energy consumption while financial development has a negative impact. Additionally, there is a unidirectional causality relationship from financial development to renewable energy consumption.

Electricity consumption and economic growth at the state and sectoral level in India: Evidence using heterogeneous panel data methods

Aviral Kumar Tiwari et al.

Summary: The study found a long-term relationship between economic growth and electricity consumption in the agriculture sector in India, with unidirectional causality flowing from overall economic growth to electricity consumption at the aggregate state level. At the sectoral level, there is a unidirectional causal relationship running from electricity consumption to economic growth for the agriculture sector, and economic growth to electricity consumption for the industrial sector.

Toward sustainable electricity consumption in Brazil: the role of economic growth, globalization and ecological footprint using a nonlinear ARDL approach

Abdulkadir Abdulrashid Rafindadi et al.

Summary: The study reveals that the effects of economic growth, globalization, and ecological footprint on sustainable electricity consumption in Brazil are nonlinear and asymmetric. Positive shocks to economic growth have a greater impact on increasing electricity consumption compared to negative shocks, while negative shocks to globalization have a stronger effect. Furthermore, the long-term effects of positive and negative shocks to the ecological footprint are negative but statistically significant only in the case of a positive shock, with short-term impacts also showing a similar pattern.
