Benefits of using steel slag in cement clinker production for environmental conservation and economic revenue generation

Tianming Gao et al.

Summary: This study examines the feasibility and advantages of using steel slag instead of iron ore in cement production, highlighting the maximum substitution amount and specific resources, as well as the environmental and economic benefits. By optimizing raw meal quality indices and operational processes, it is possible to produce steel slag clinker that meets national standards.

Conventional and Alternative Sources of Thermal Energy in the Production of Cement-An Impact on CO2 Emission

Karolina Wojtacha-Rychter et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the reduction of carbon dioxide emission through partially substituting coal with alternative fuels in clinker manufacture. Results showed that using alternative fuels, including biomass, led to a decrease in CO2 emissions and financial profit gain. This research can serve as a starting point for future studies on reducing CO2 emissions.

Research status of super sulfate cement

Qingyong Wu et al.

Summary: Super sulfate cement (SSC) is an ideal green building material made from industrial solid wastes, with good resistance to sulfate attack but poor resistance to carbonation, and its drawbacks include slow hydration hardening and low early strength. Despite the limitations, with increasing environmental requirements, research and use of SSC in concrete continue to grow in this century.
