Prediction of organic matter accessibility and complexity in anaerobic digestates

Summary: Further characterization is needed to assess the fate of organic matter quality during anaerobic digestion and organic carbon mineralization in soils. Based on accessibility and complexity, 28 substrate/digestate pairs were successfully classified, showing a decrease in accessibility, an increase in complexity, and an increase of non-biodegradable compounds during anaerobic digestion. Predictive models accurately estimated organic matter quality and organic carbon mineralization in soil.
