Preparation of fibrous chitosan/sodium alginate composite foams for the adsorption of cationic and anionic dyes

Summary: Fibrous chitosan/sodium alginate composite foams prepared by lyophilization with ternary solvents exhibit suitable morphology for dye adsorption, showing high adsorption capacities for Acid Black-172 and Methylene Blue. The adsorption process follows pseudo-second-order kinetics and Langmuir model, indicating it is spontaneous. The composite foams have potential to effectively remove both cationic and anionic dyes from wastewater.

Mussel-inspired polydopamine decorated pomelo peel as a durable biosorbent for adsorption of cationic dyes

Summary: In this study, an eco-friendly biosorbent PP-PDA was prepared by self-polymerization of polydopamine on porous pomelo peel. PP-PDA exhibited high adsorption capacity towards cationic dyes and could selectively adsorb them from mixtures. The adsorption kinetics and isotherms followed pseudo-second-order and Langmuir models, with adsorption capacity influenced by pH value and salt concentration. The fabricated PP-PDA could be easily regenerated and maintained good adsorption capacity even after twenty cycles, showing promise for dye-contaminated wastewater treatment.
