The study investigated the solubilities of three dyestuffs in supercritical carbon dioxide, finding that solubility increased as CO2 density increased. The experimental results correlated well with the Chrastil model and Mendez-Santiago and Teja model, with average absolute relative deviations ranging from 4.55 to 6.68%.
The solubilities of three dyestuffs, C.I. Disperse Red 13, C.I. Disperse Red 50, and C.I. Disperse Red 65, in supercritical carbon dioxide were determined using a flow-type apparatus at temperature and pressure ranges from 343.15 to 393.15 K and 10 to 22 MPa, respectively. The corresponding solubilities were in the ranges of 1.1670 to 2.5089 x 10(-6), 1.2094 to 3.0450 x 10(-6), and 0.8186 to 1.8886 x 10(-6) mol/mol; that is, the solubility increased as the CO2 density increased. The experimental results showed satisfactory correlation with two density-based models: the Chrastil model and the Mendez-Santiago and Teja model. The solubility of the Chrastil model for the three dyestuffs fitted well with the theoretical value, and the average absolute relative deviations ranged between 4.55 and 6.68%.
