Relation Between Coordination and Lewis-Acid Property of MOF-Derived Mononuclear Zn(II) Catalyst Toward Epoxide Hydroxylation

Juan-Ding Xiao et al.

Summary: The study prepared Lewis-acid based Zn-N/P-C mononuclear catalysts using ZIF-8 as precursor to illustrate the relationship between coordination structure and Lewis-acid properties in catalytic reactions. The results showed that by modulating the coordination atom and number, the Lewis acidity of Zn2+ can be greatly enhanced, leading to improved catalytic activity.

Synergistic Lewis acid-base sites of ultrathin porous Co3O4 nanosheets with enhanced peroxidase-like activity

Wenhui Lu et al.

Summary: This study engineered surface Lewis acid-base sites on Co3O4 nanosheets to enhance peroxidase-like activity, resulting in higher catalytic efficiency for oxidizing substrates. The synergistic effect of acid and base sites on Co3O4 nanosheets improved interfacial electron transfer, facilitating substrate adsorption and generation of reactive intermediates. The ultrathin porous Co3O4 nanosheets showed superior performance in detecting hydroquinol with a wider linear range, offering a colorimetric detection method based on agarose-based hydrogel membrane.
