Mapping the potential of thiolated pluronic based nanomicelles for the safe and targeted delivery of vancomycin against staphylococcal blepharitis

Faryal jahan et al.

Summary: The study aimed to develop mucoadhesive vancomycin loaded thiolated pluronic F68 polymeric nanomicelles against staphylococcal blepharitis. The polymeric micelles showed enhanced retention and sustained drug release, making them a promising formulation for ocular delivery against staphylococcal blepharitis.

Drug Release Kinetics from Nondegradable Hydrophobic Polymers Can Be Modulated and Predicted by the Glass Transition Temperature

Jian Qian et al.

Summary: The study identified a simple parameter, the glass transition temperature T-g, that can control the release rate and duration of nondegradable hydrophobic polymers. A linear correlation of (T - T-g)(0.5) was found to dictate the drug release rate, enabling accurate simulation and prediction of drug release kinetics, saving substantial testing time for long-acting drug delivery systems.

Biobased polyurethanes for biomedical applications

Sophie Wendels et al.

Summary: Polyurethanes (PUs) have a wide range of applications in the biomedical field, showing advanced properties such as controlled biotic and abiotic degradation. They possess precise tissue biomimicking structures and shape-recovery properties, making them suitable for cell adhesion, proliferation, and differentiation. While substitution of fossil-based materials for biomedical implants is slowly improving, achieving higher renewable contents is still necessary for biobased certifications.
