You Wu et al.

Summary: The experiment synthesized Phenyl terminated hyperbranched polyesters (HBP-Bs) for toughening poly(3-hydroxybutyrate-co-3-hydroxyvalerate) (PHBV) directly by melt blending. It was found that adding HBP-Bs significantly decreased the crystallinity, increased impact strength and elongation at break of the PHBV blends, and improved the microstructure of the blends.

Performance adjustable porous polylactic acid-based membranes for controlled release fertilizers

Xiaosong Wang et al.

Summary: The study found that adding cellulose acetate can enhance the membrane's permeability, while porogens can increase the membrane's hydrophilicity, dialysis coefficient, and nutrient release rate. There was not a significant difference in membrane performance with different porogens, but urea coated with membranes containing nano-SiO(2) and PEG showed higher nutrient release rates.

Merve Dandan Doganci et al.

Summary: The study investigated the effects of AB type-heteroarm star-shaped SPLA polymers on the morphological, mechanical, and thermal behaviors of PLA. It was determined that SPLA polymers with four PLA and four PCL arms enhanced the mechanical properties of PLA. Optimum chain length for chain extension reactions and the use of PDI as a compatibilizer improved the intercompatibility of binary polymer blends.

Rheological and foaming behaviors of long-chain branched polyamide 6 with controlled branch length

Menglong Xu et al.

Summary: In this study, a series of long-chain branched polyamide 6 samples (LCB PA6s) with well-defined branch length were successfully fabricated via reactive extrusion using various linear PA6s as reactive materials. The GPC-rheology method was used to demonstrate the existence of LCB topological structure and quantitatively determine the relative branch length for three LCB PA6s. Rheological characterization showed that increasing branch length resulted in enhanced elastic response and melt strength of PA6s. Additionally, the melt foamability of these LCB PA6s was verified through batch foaming experiments with supercritical CO2 as the blowing agent, showing potential for large-scale production via continuous extrusion foaming process.
