Revised crystal structure and electronic properties of high dielectric Ba(Fe1/2Nb1/2)O3 ceramics

Magnetic ground state and crystal structure of the giant dielectric constant material Ba(Fe1/2Nb1/2)O3

Summary: The crystal structure and magnetic properties of Ba(Fe1/2Nb1/2)O-3 (BFN) are investigated through high-resolution synchrotron x-ray powder diffraction and specific heat measurements. The results confirm a cubic perovskite structure for BFN in the Pm (3) over bar m space group, and reveal the absence of long-range ordered antiferromagnetic transition. The presence of a cluster spin-glass phase below a certain temperature is confirmed through magnetization measurements and ac susceptibility studies, settling existing controversies regarding the magnetic ground state of BFN.
