Microwave irradiation is a suitable method for caulerpin extraction from the green algae Caulerpa racemosa (Chlorophyta, Caulerpaceae)

Sarah J. Cantarino et al.

Summary: This study evaluated four extraction methods for caulerpin in C. racemosa and compared their efficiency based on UV-vis spectrophotometry. The results showed that MAE was the most efficient method, with the highest caulerpin content obtained by extracting with ethanol at 90 degrees Celsius for 7 minutes. Therefore, this research suggests an improved routine analysis of caulerpin using the concept of green chemistry.
