Formation of carbon nanofibers/nanotubes by chemical vapor deposition using Al2O3/KOH

Xuemei Lv et al.

Summary: Carbon nanofibers/tubes were successfully formed by catalytic cracking methane using Al2O3/KOH as the catalyst precursors. The effects of pyrolysis temperature and the molar ratio of Al2O3 to KOH on the growth of carbon nanofibers/tubes were investigated. The results showed that temperature and molar ratio significantly influenced the properties of the products, with the optimal temperature being 900 degrees Celsius for the production of carbon nanofibers/tubes with diameters ranging from 50 to 150 nanometers.

Study on formation mechanism of three types of carbon nanoparticles during ethylene pyrolysis in thermal plasmas

Jing Ma et al.

Summary: Three carbon phases were synthesized by the pyrolysis of ethylene using a magnetically rotating arc under atmospheric pressure, with different parameters affecting the morphology of the products. Higher temperature, proper H-2 and CO2 flow, and shorter residence time are conducive to the production of graphene with fewer layers, while a suitable H/C ratio and the formation of macromolecular carbonaceous clusters are essential for the synthesis of semi-graphite particles.

Cobalt sulfide catalysts for single-walled carbon nanotube synthesis

Hong Wang et al.

Summary: Cobalt sulfide catalysts supported on porous silica show potential for CNT synthesis, with their catalytic performance strongly influenced by reduction temperature and cobalt mass loading. The catalysts have demonstrated selectivity towards single-walled CNTs, but higher cobalt mass loading leads to the formation of multi-walled CNTs and graphite.

Bio-based production of carbon nanotubes via co-pyrolysis of eucalyptus oil and ferrocene

Summary: Sustainable production of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) was explored through co-pyrolysis of eucalyptus oil and ferrocene, leading to varying qualities of CNTs at different temperatures and molar ratios. CNTs produced at higher temperatures and molar ratios exhibited lower content of amorphous carbon and superior thermal stability.
