Fully-coupled Computational Modeling of the Dynamic Response of 1-3 Multiferroic Composite Structures

Ryan Stampfli et al.

Summary: In this research, a fully-coupled finite element-based Multiphysics computational study was conducted to investigate a multiferroic composite structure, demonstrating the utility of the computational framework in exploiting the performance of the 1-3 multiferroic composite structures. The experimental results from noncontact spatiotemporal laser vibrometer measurements were benchmarked with the simulation results, validating the overall response of the model.

Electrospinning of multiferroic CoFe2O4@ Ba(Zr0.2Ti0.8)O3-0.5(Ba0.7Ca0.3) TiO3 nano-structured fibers via two different routes

Amir Mahdi Molavi et al.

Summary: Multiferroic composite materials with one-dimensional core-shell structure were successfully synthesized by electrospinning for the first time, and the influence of different synthesis routes on the properties of the composite fibers was investigated, with the second method showing higher saturation magnetization and dielectric constant.

Nanostabilization of tetragonal distorted FeCo variants in ultra-thin FeCo/TiN multilayer films

Niklas Wolff et al.

Summary: Composites of ultra-thin nanolayers of FeCo/TiN exhibit stability at high temperatures and defined magnetic properties that can be tuned by adjusting layer thickness. Using aberration-corrected microscopes and X-ray diffraction analysis, the nanostructure was found to consist of individual layers of FeCo and TiN forming a superlattice with a specific orientation relationship. Simulation of electron diffraction patterns confirmed a defined orientation relationship leading to the stabilization of tetragonal FeCo unit cells at the nanoscale.

Polymer conformation-dependent piezoelectric properties and self-bias magnetoelectric responses in adhesive-free laminate composites of Ni-foam/PVDF/Ni-foam

Byung-Il Noh et al.

Summary: Polymer-based magnetoelectric laminate composites have been developed for flexible energy harvesters and wearable sensors. Adhesive-free laminate composites consisting of porous magnetostrictive nickel foam and soft PVDF films exhibited good physical coupling. The self-bias ME effect was observed in NF, leading to reliable ME responses in the composites.
