Hydrothermal temperature-controlled size and distribution of CeO2 nanoparticles over TiO2 nanorods: Heterojunction characteristics and photoelectrochemical performance

Sutapa Dey et al.

Summary: The study successfully controlled the size and distribution of CeO2 nanoparticles on TiO2 nanorod arrays through a systematic variation of the hydrothermal process temperature. The CeO2-TiO2 heterojunction photoanode showed improved photoelectrochemical performance, with a photocurrent density approximately three times higher than that of bare TiO2 nanorod arrays, demonstrating the effectiveness of the heterojunction at a process temperature of 120 degrees C.

Designing TiO2 nanostructures through hydrothermal growth: influence of process parameters and substrate position

Sutapa Dey et al.

Summary: Synthesis conditions and processing parameters significantly influence the growth and morphology of nanostructures, allowing for control over their shapes. This study demonstrates the hydrothermal growth of TiO2 nanostructures and shows that varying parameters like reaction time, temperature, precursor concentration, and substrate orientation can lead to different morphologies such as nanowires, nanorods, and dandelions. Manipulating the substrate position inside the autoclave during the hydrothermal process offers a possibility to control the growth of nanostructures, which may have implications for surface-dependent applications.
