MoO2/C composites prepared by tartaric acid and glucose-assisted sol-gel processes as anode materials for lithium-ion batteries

G. S. Zakharova et al.

Summary: MoO2/C composites were fabricated for the first time using tartaric acid/glucose-assisted sol-gel method and post-annealing at 500 degrees C in N-2 flow. The composites exhibit low crystallinity and small grain size, leading to good electrochemical performance. The adoption of glucose as carbon source effectively increases the carbon content in the composites, resulting in competitive electrochemical capacity.

Controlling MoO2 and MoO3 phases in MoOx/CNTs nanocomposites and their application to anode materials for lithium-ion batteries and capacitors

Daseul Han et al.

Summary: Molybdenum oxides (MoO2 and MoO3) are attractive anode materials for Li- and Na- ion batteries, and a facile synthesis method has been demonstrated to control the phase and oxidation state in the MoOx/CNTs nanocomposites. By comparing the structure and electrochemical properties of MoO2/CNTs and MoO3/CNTs, it was found that MoO2&3/CNTs electrodes show much-improved cycling stability and rate performance in lithium-ion batteries. Additionally, MoOx/CNTs electrodes demonstrate impressive energy and power densities and excellent cycling stability when employed in a high-power lithium-ion capacitor.
