Insight into watery saliva proteomes of the grain aphid, Sitobion avenae

Yong Zhang et al.

Summary: The study identified 114 proteins in the watery saliva of the grain aphid, including enzymes, binding proteins, and putative effectors. The unique feature of salivary proteins from S. avenae compared to other aphid species lies in the different patterns of protein functions. Several proteins shared among various aphid species were also found in S. avenae saliva, suggesting their significant role in aphid-plant interactions.

Novel Temporal Expression Patterns of EBF-Binding Proteins in Wing Morphs of The Grain Aphid Sitobion miscanthi

Siyu Zhang et al.

Summary: The study investigated the temporal expression of EBF-binding proteins and other OBPs in aphids, revealing that winged aphids are more sensitive to EBF. OBP7 showed significantly higher antennal expression in winged aphids, while OBP3 did not differ significantly in most time points, providing important insights for selecting morphs and sampling times.
