Neighborhood atmosphere modifies the eudaimonic impact of cohesion and friendship among older adults: A multilevel mixed-methods study

Daniel R. Y. Gan et al.

Summary: Research suggests that positive neighborhood experience can improve the mental health of older adults, even after controlling for depressive symptoms. However, a poor neighborhood atmosphere may limit the extent to which the neighborhood can enhance the mental health of older adults. Enhancing a sense of community in the neighborhood could be a key factor in improving the mental health of older adults.
