Policy Implications for Pain in Advanced Alzheimer's Disease

Alison R. Anderson et al.

Summary: The management of pain in individuals with Alzheimer's disease is a challenging issue due to the decline in cognitive abilities, altered pain-processing networks in the brain, and insufficient guidance in current reports and guidelines. There is a need for new policies and definitions to address the ongoing pain in Alzheimer's disease and improve pain management for this population. Continued research is necessary to understand the impact of Alzheimer's disease on pain processing and communication.
