Impact of the Percepta Genomic Classifier on Clinical Management Decisions in a Multicenter Prospective Study

Hans J. Lee et al.

Summary: The Percepta genomic classifier can decrease the need for additional invasive procedures in patients with low/intermediate risk lung nodules, leading to a change in management plan from invasive procedure to surveillance for the majority of patients up to 12 months after initial evaluation.

Robotic Bronchoscopy for Peripheral Pulmonary Lesions A Multicenter Pilot and Feasibility Study (BENEFIT)

Alexander C. Chen et al.

Summary: This is the first prospective, multicenter study of robotic bronchoscopy in patients with PPLs. Successful lesion localization was achieved in 96.2% of cases, with an adverse event rate comparable with conventional bronchoscopic procedures. Additional large prospective studies are warranted to evaluate procedure characteristics, such as diagnostic yield.

Association of the Intensity of Diagnostic Evaluation With Outcomes in Incidentally Detected Lung Nodules

Farhood Farjah et al.

Summary: This study found inconclusive evidence of an association between less intensive diagnostic evaluations and more advanced stage at lung cancer diagnosis compared with guideline-concordant care; higher intensities of diagnostic evaluations were associated with greater procedural complications, radiation exposure, and expenditures.

Screening for Lung Cancer With Low-Dose Computed Tomography Updated Evidence Report and Systematic Review for the US Preventive Services Task Force

Daniel E. Jonas et al.

Summary: Screening high-risk individuals with LDCT can decrease lung cancer mortality but may also result in false positives, overdiagnosis, incidental findings, distress, and rarely radiation-induced cancers. More research is needed to optimize nodule evaluation protocols to minimize harms associated with screening.
