Thermal Mechanisms of Grain Refinement in Steels: A Review

Zahra Nasiri et al.

Summary: This review discusses the thermal mechanisms of microstructural refinement in steels, focusing on processes like thermal cycling, martensite process, and static recrystallization (SRX). Recent advancements in grain refinement by thermal cycling and the application of the martensite process for low-carbon and DP steels are highlighted. The limitations and potential opportunities for grain refinement in steels using conventional and innovative processing routes are also presented.

Predictive dual-scale finite element simulation for hole expansion failure of ferrite-bainite steel

Siwook Park et al.

Summary: A dual-scale finite element model is proposed to investigate the failure of ferrite-bainite dual-phase steel in the hole expansion test. Local deformation histories and microstructure evolution in grain scale can be utilized for understanding the deformation and fracture of multi-phase steels.
