Selection of fibers to improve porous asphalt mixtures using multi-criteria analysis

Anik Gupta et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the influence of four different fibers on the performance of porous asphalt mixtures and selected the best fiber using a multi-criteria decision method. Results showed that aramid pulp significantly improved abrasion resistance, while glass-hybrid fibers enhanced the ITS of the mixtures.

Pervious concrete for desired porosity: Influence of w/c ratio and a rheology-modifying admixture

Fernanda B. Pereira da Costa et al.

Summary: A simple design method for controlling porosity by adjusting density and compaction efforts was proposed. Varying the w/c ratio and chemical admixture could influence the permeability and mechanical performance of pervious concrete. The incorporation of a rheology-modifying admixture improved densification and flowability, ultimately increasing mechanical strength.

Potential utilization of construction wastes in asphalt pavements as fillers using ranking framework

Jayvant Choudhary et al.

Summary: This study investigated the potential of using four construction wastes as fillers in asphalt concrete mixes through a decision-based ranking framework. The research found that asphalt mixes containing LD, CD, and GP exhibited superior resistance against rutting and cracking. Mixes with CD and LD displayed better moisture resistance, while LD and BD fillers were more economical and environmentally friendly.

Influence of silica fume, metakaolin & SBR latex on strength and durability performance of pervious concrete

Hassan Bilal et al.

Summary: This study evaluates the performance of pervious concrete under rapid freeze-thaw cycling, calcium leaching, and their combined attack. The addition of fine sand and proper compaction can improve the resistance to freeze-thaw cycling. Increasing the supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs) content from 5% to 10% significantly enhances resistance, with 10% being the optimal content.
