The performance of the single-walled carbon nanotube covalently modified with polyethylene glycol to delivery of Gemcitabine anticancer drug in the aqueous environment

Heidar Moradnia et al.

Summary: The computational investigation explored the adsorption of Gemcitabine drug on a single-walled carbon nanotube modified with polyethylene glycol, focusing on intermolecular interactions, specifically hydrogen bonds. The theoretical analysis elucidated the nature of the interactions, geometrical structures, binding energy, and electron density distribution, while confirming the presence of critical points and bond paths between hydrogen and electronegative atoms. Results also indicated the capability of the drug molecule to accept electrons from the carbon nanotube and the impact of polyethylene glycol weight percent on drug adsorption strength through molecular dynamics simulations.

Boron Nitride Nanotube as an Antimicrobial Peptide Carrier: A Theoretical Insight

Maryam Zarghami Dehaghani et al.

Summary: Nanotube-based drug delivery systems are highly promising for drug encapsulation due to their strong penetration capability and large internal volume. Molecular dynamics simulation revealed that cationic antimicrobial peptide cRW3 was encapsulated in biocompatible boron nitride nanotube through van der Waals interaction, with a decrease in vdW interaction strength over time. This study provides valuable insights into the encapsulation behavior of drugs in nanotubes and their potential applications in drug delivery.

Fracture behavior of SiGe nanosheets: Mechanics of monocrystalline vs. polycrystalline structure

Maryam Zarghami Dehaghani et al.

Summary: The study on the mechanical properties of silicon-germanium nanosheets at high temperatures reveals that the material performance decreases as the temperature rises, while the increase in grain size and randomness also reduce the elastic modulus and failure strength. Furthermore, the increase in crack and notch size, as well as temperature, have a detrimental effect on the material's properties.

Fracture fingerprint of polycrystalline C3N nanosheets: Theoretical basis

Babak Bagheri et al.

Summary: The fracture behavior of polycrystalline carbon nanosheets, modeled using heterogeneous graphitic carbon nitride, was studied through molecular dynamics simulations. It was found that increasing the number of grain boundaries and crack length resulted in a significant decrease in Young's modulus, while small cracks exhibited higher fracture toughness. This theoretical approach can be generalized to capture the unique fracture fingerprint of different types of polycrystalline carbon structures.

Summary: The study simulated polycrystalline boron carbide nanosheets using Molecular Dynamics simulation and found that the thermal conductivity decreases non-linearly with increasing grain number due to more phonon scattering from structural defects. Additionally, increasing the grain rotation angle led to higher Kapitza thermal resistance, limiting heat transfer across polycrystalline nanosheets.
