Summary: This study systematically investigated the magnetic properties of magnetite nanoparticles functionalized with different Pluronic F-127 surfactant concentrations through an improved magnetic characterization method. The nanoparticles showed superparamagnetic behavior and remained stable in terms of magnetization even after months of storage. The magnetic technique used in this study also demonstrated potential for detailed magnetic characterization of nanoparticles, with results confirmed by comparison with other techniques such as transmission electron microscopy and Raman spectroscopy.

Development of Dextran-Coated Magnetic Nanoparticles Loaded with Protocatechuic Acid for Vascular Inflammation Therapy

Maria Anghelache et al.

Summary: This study developed dextran shell-iron oxide core nanoparticles loaded with protocatechuic acid (PCA) and evaluated their anti-inflammatory potential at non-cytotoxic and therapeutically relevant concentrations. The results showed that MNP-Dex/PCA reduced inflammatory molecules levels in activated endothelial cells and M1-type macrophages, along with decreased monocyte adhesion, through the modulation of ERK1/2, p38-alpha MAPKs, and NF-kB signaling pathways. These findings support the future development of dextran shell-magnetic core nanoparticles as theranostic tools for vascular inflammation therapy.
