Isolation and Characterization of Buccal Fat Pad and Dental Pulp MSCs from the Same Donor

Tullio Genova et al.

Summary: Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) from third molar dental pulp and buccal fat pads of patients were compared for osteoinductive potential. The study found higher yield and proliferation of cells in BFPSCs compared to DPSCs, although both could differentiate into osteoblast-like cells and release a mineralized matrix. The release of osteocalcin did not significantly differ between the two types of stem cells.

The Effect of Cultivation Passaging on the Relative Telomere Length and Proliferation Capacity of Dental Pulp Stem Cells

Nela Pilbauerova et al.

Summary: Telomere length in dental pulp stem cells decreases with cultivation passaging, indicating that excessive proliferation leads to telomere attrition and affects cell proliferation capacity. However, prolongation of telomeres can be observed when cells are cultivated without passaging, suggesting that telomerase may be more efficient in this circumstance.
