Summary: The novel application of ionic liquid as a solvent for biodegradable and natural organic biomaterials has attracted increasing interest in the biomedical field. The study demonstrates that protein and polysaccharides can dissolve seamlessly in ionic liquid, forming fine biomaterials with tunable properties. Blended films of silk fibroin and cellulose acetate in ionic liquid showed wavering conformational changes at a microscopic level, indicating strong interactions and changes in their crystalline structures.

3D bioprinting of conductive hydrogel for enhanced myogenic differentiation

Summary: The study demonstrates the fabrication of a conductive hydrogel scaffold using 3D bioprinting, incorporating PEDOT nanoparticles to enhance electrical conductivity and facilitate myogenic differentiation of C2C12 cells. The GelMA/PEDOT composite scaffolds showed favorable outcomes in terms of cell proliferation, migration, and differentiation, as confirmed by various in vitro investigations. Moreover, the effects of electrical signals on myogenic differentiation and myotube formation in vitro were also explored, showcasing the potential of conductive hydrogels for cell encapsulation and muscle tissue regeneration.
