Mohammad Hossein Javadi et al.

Summary: This article extends the standard linear solid rheological model to viscoelastic materials with large nonlinear deformations, proposes a constitutive equation to model the mechanical behavior of double-network hydrogels, and demonstrates through experiments the capability of the proposed model in simulating the vibrational properties of hydrogels.

A poroviscoelasticity model based on effective temperature for water and temperature driven phase transition in hydrogels

Sanhita Das et al.

Summary: This article explores the mechanical response changes in hydrogels due to temperature and moisture-driven phase transitions, proposing a unified framework for modeling the transition and associated mechanical behavior. The model's predictive fidelity is evaluated through numerical solutions and experimental validation, examining the influence of inter-molecular interactions on saturation. The study also showcases the modeling of visco-hyperelastic phase transitions and investigates coupling effects caused by changes in moisture, temperature, loading rates, and prior aging.

Constitutive Modeling of multi-stimuli-responsive shape memory polymers with multi-functional capabilities

Mahdi Baniasadi et al.

Summary: This paper introduces a new class of shape memory polymers called thermo-electro-magneto-responsive fibrous SMPs, which demonstrate enhanced shape recovery and recovery force at lower working temperatures. By developing a three-dimensional constitutive model and utilizing electro-magneto-visco-hyperelasticity theory, the study shows that electro-magnetic features can significantly improve the shape memory effect and bio-applicability of TEMFSMPs. Through numerical simulations and experimental validation, it is found that the orientation and stiffness of fibers can effectively tune the performance of TEMFSMPs, leading to highly enhanced stress/strain recovery and reduced working temperatures.
