Effect of the support properties in dehydrogenation of biphenyl-based eutectic mixture as liquid organic hydrogen carrier (LOHC) over Pt/Al2O3 catalysts

Yeonsu Kwak et al.

Summary: This study investigates the effect of the properties of commercial Al2O3 pellets on Pt/Al2O3 catalysts in the dehydrogenation reaction of H12-BPDM, demonstrating that pore size distributions and corresponding surface properties of Al2O3 supports can lead to different dehydrogenation reaction characteristics of H12-BPDM.

Hydrogen solubility, interfacial tension, and density of the liquid organic hydrogen carrier system diphenylmethane/dicyclohexylmethane

Julius H. Jander et al.

Summary: This study presents the physico-chemical properties of the liquid organic hydrogen carrier (LOHC) system diphenylmethane/dicyclohexylmethane in the presence of dissolved hydrogen at temperatures up to 523 K and pressures up to 10 MPa. The solubility of hydrogen increases with temperature and pressure, while the interfacial tension and liquid density show minimal variation. Different mixtures with similar degree of hydrogenation suggest that the presence of cyclohexylphenylmethane has a small influence on the properties of the LOHC system.

Hydrogen production from homocyclic liquid organic hydrogen carriers (LOHCs): Benchmarking studies and energy-economic analyses

Yeonsu Kwak et al.

Summary: The study investigated the dehydrogenation characteristics of different homocyclic LOHCs, focusing on four LOHCs for comparative analysis. Post-mortem analyses on the catalyst, physicochemical properties of LOHCs, energy analysis, and economic assessment were discussed, suggesting a strategy for promoting the practical use of homocyclic LOHCs in a maritime transport scenario.

Summary: Methylcyclohexane (MCH) is considered an excellent hydrogen energy carrier with potential industrial applications. The Methylcyclohexane-toluene-hydrogen (MTH) cycle allows for material and energy recycling. The research on catalysts for MCH dehydrogenation process under low temperature and high pressure conditions is key to industrialize the MTH system.
