QuEChERS sample pre-processing with UPLC-MS/MS: A method for detecting 19 quinolone-based veterinary drugs in goat's milk

Siou Bang Ye et al.

Summary: A method combining QuEChERS technique with ultra-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry was developed and validated for the rapid determination of 19 quinolones in goat's milk. The method selected parameters that best promote extraction efficiency using Plackett-Burman and Central Composite Design methods. The developed method showed high specificity, linearity, recovery rates, repeatability, and intermediate precision, making it suitable for routine analysis of quinolone residues in goat's milk.

Pyrrolizidine alkaloids and beehive products: A review

Patricia Brugnerotto et al.

Summary: Pyrrolizidine alkaloids are secondary metabolites of plants, mainly found in certain plant species. These compounds can be ingested through accidental consumption of plants and their derivatives. Bees transfer pyrrolizidine alkaloids from nectar, honeydew, and pollen to honey and other beekeeping products.

Food safety hazards of bee pollen-A review

Rita Vegh et al.

Summary: Bee pollen may be contaminated with pesticides, heavy metals, and mycotoxins, posing health risks to consumers. Limits and monitoring are recommended for arsenic, cadmium, lead, and pyrrolizidine alkaloids to ensure consumer safety. Further studies are needed to fully understand the risks posed by mercury and mycotoxins in bee pollen.
