The study finds that DBI and DBII have different types, representing the primarily activated slip plane and the combination of activated primary and coplanar slip systems. The formation planes of CBs are perpendicular to the cross-slip plane and parallel to the primary slip direction. The highly symmetrical characteristics of multiple-slip-oriented single crystals can lead to inconsistent correspondences between DBs and CBs.
In this study, we investigate the deformation bands (DBs), viz. DBI and DBII, and cell bands (CBs) in the near[(1) over bar 11]-multiple-slip-oriented single crystals during cyclic deformation. Three different types each of DBIs [(111), ((1) over bar(1) over bar1), and ((1) over bar1 (1) over bar)] and DBIIs [((2) over bar 11), ((1) over bar 21), and ((1) over bar 12)] can be summarized as the primarily activated slip plane and the combination of activated primary and coplanar slip systems, respectively. The formation planes of CBs [(121), ((1) over bar(1) over bar2), and ((2) over bar1 (1) over bar)] are perpendicular to the cross-slip plane and parallel to the primary slip direction. The highly symmetrical characteristics of multiple-slip-oriented single crystals can produce inconsistent correspondences between DBs and CBs.
