Evaluation of residual stress from ultrasonic cavitation peening using cavitation pit analysis and FEA

Summary: A novel procedure for simulating ultrasonic cavitation peening was introduced in this study. The study found that high-energy impacts are mainly responsible for residual stress, and experimental results validated the accuracy of the simulation in predicting the growth of residual stress field over time.
