Intensified decontamination of amoxicillin drug wastewater assisted by liquid-phase micro extraction method

Ali Abbasi et al.

Summary: The presence of pharmaceutical pollutants, including antibiotic contaminants in the environment, is a major global concern. This study focused on removing amoxicillin from aqueous media using a micro Y-Y shaped channel. The results showed that the process achieved a high removal rate and demonstrated the potential of micro solvent extraction for environmentally friendly wastewater treatment.

Experimental work on decontamination of wastewaters containing organic dye by liquid phase micro extraction method

Ali Abbasi et al.

Summary: The study found that using MDEHPA as the extractant in a Y-Y junction microchannel can efficiently remove MB and TB dyes from industrial wastewater, achieving maximum extraction rates of 97.9% and 98.4% respectively. Mass transfer performance was evaluated using overall volumetric mass transfer coefficient determination (k(L)alpha).

Summary: Mg-Al layer double hydroxide nanoparticles were synthesized using co-precipitation technique and incorporated into a PVDF mixed-matrix ultrafiltration membrane via phase inversion technique. The effects of polymer, pore-former, and nanofiller contents were studied to optimize the membrane structure, leading to improved filtration performance.

Augmentation of the reverse electrodialysis power generation in soft nanochannels via tailoring the soft layer properties

Mahdi Khatibi et al.

Summary: Nanochannels covered with a polyelectrolyte layer have been shown to significantly increase the power generation by reverse electrodialysis, with the sensitivity of energy conversion efficiency and power generation rate being relatively high to the difference in properties between the PEL and the electrolyte. By tailoring the PEL structure, especially through densely distributing polyelectrolyte brushes, both efficiency and power density can be effectively increased.

A variational approach applied to reduce fouling with the electroosmotic flow in porous-wall microchannels

Samaneh Ayoubi et al.

Summary: The study found that electroosmotic flow can effectively reduce fouling of microchannel walls with a porous wall. By decreasing the neutral solute concentration and increasing the Sherwood number, the fouling of microchannel walls can be reduced.

Summary: This study investigated the micro solvent extraction of cadmium ion from nitrate solution and its influencing factors, determined the optimal conditions, and established a correlation for the estimation of the aqueous phase Sherwood number. It was found that microchannel dimensions had an impact on the extraction efficiency, with optimal dimensions achieving a 99.3% extraction rate.

Improving permeability, hydrophilicity and antifouling characteristic of PES hollow fiber UF membrane using carboxylic PES: A promising substrate to fabricate NF layer

Azarakhsh Heidari et al.

Summary: In this study, carboxylic polyethersulfone (CPES) was successfully synthesized and used in the fabrication of CPES/PES blend membranes, which showed improved hydrophilicity and permeability. The presence of CPES also enhanced the assembly of HPEI thin-film layers, resulting in higher MgCl2 rejection in NF membranes.

Tripling the reverse electrodialysis power generation in conical nanochannels utilizing soft surfaces

Mahdi Khatibi et al.

Summary: Theoretical investigation on enhancing reverse electrodialysis power generation by covering nanochannel surface with a polyelectrolyte layer (PEL) shows that increasing the charge density and thickness of PEL can result in higher power generation. This study demonstrates that by using a typical PEL with specific properties, it is possible to achieve nearly three times the maximum power density compared to bare conical nanochannels at the same salinity gradient.
