The Kansa RBF method with auxiliary boundary centres for fourth order boundary value problems

Andreas Karageorghis et al.

Summary: This study investigates the application of the Kansa-radial basis function method to two-dimensional fourth order boundary value problems. By comparing the two approaches of setting centers on the boundary or around the boundary curve, it is found that they have different impacts on the numerical results.

Lattice-Boltzmann coupled models for advection-diffusion flow on a wide range of Peclet numbers

Davide Dapelo et al.

Summary: The research proposes two 3D models to overcome numerical instability issues in high-Peclet flows, coupling a Lattice-Boltzmann Navier-Stokes solver with an advection-diffusion model or a finite-difference algorithm. Through improving numerical diffusivity and validation tests, it is shown that the coupled finite-difference/Lattice-Boltzmann model provides stable solutions in the case of infinite Pe and Pe(g).

Numerical solution of nonlinear advection diffusion reaction equation using high-order compact difference method

Lin Zhang et al.

Summary: In this paper, a high-order compact difference method is used to solve the one-dimensional nonlinear advection diffusion reaction equation. An unconditionally stable five-step fourth-order fully implicit compact difference scheme is developed, with fourth-order accuracy in both time and space. The accuracy, stability, and efficiency of the approach are verified through numerical experiments.

A well-balanced lattice Boltzmann model for the depth-averaged advection-diffusion equation with variable water depth

Zhiming Ru et al.

Summary: A well-balanced lattice Boltzmann model has been developed to solve the solute transport problem in shallow water flows with obvious water depth gradient changes. The model successfully reduces the third-order error by decomposing the diffusion term and combining it into the advection term to produce pseudo velocity. Two schemes, center and linked schemes, have been developed to handle different treatments of water depth gradient in the equilibrium distribution function, both ensuring solute mass conservation.

Meshless finite difference method with B-splines for numerical solution of coupled advection-diffusion-reaction problems

Mas Irfan P. Hidayat

Summary: This paper presents a meshless finite difference method utilizing B-splines for numerical solution of coupled advection-diffusion-reaction problems. The method is mathematically simple to program and truly meshless, demonstrating effectiveness, high resolution, stability, and robustness in capturing problem dynamics accurately without domain shape restrictions. Additionally, the method's convergence rate is empirically shown to be high, making it an accurate and effective solver for such problems in two-dimensional domains.

Computational technique for heat and advection-diffusion equations

Saumya Ranjan Jena et al.

Summary: In this work, the octic B-spline collocation approach combined with MATLAB programming is implemented to improve the approximate solution of heat and advection-diffusion equation with high accuracy. The scheme discretizes the time derivative using forward difference technique and applies the Crank-Nicolson scheme for the remaining terms, which is found to be unconditionally stable. Through testing, the scheme demonstrates better accuracy and efficiency compared to existing methods, showing good agreement with analytical solutions.

Summary: In this paper, a new approach of analytical solutions is applied to study the thermal transport phenomena of Casson fluid based on Prabhakar's fractional derivative and the generalized Fourier's law.
