Self-adjusted bimetallic zeolitic-imidazolate framework-derived hierarchical magnetic carbon composites as efficient adsorbent for optimizing drug contaminant removal

Ying Pan et al.

Summary: Efficient bimetallic zeolitic-imidazolate frameworks were synthesized using a self-adjusted strategy, resulting in a series of porous magnetic materials with well-distributed Co adsorption sites. By fine-tuning the ratio of Co and Zn in the precursors, the optimal composite exhibited record-high adsorption capacities for the removal of contaminants from water. This work provides insights into the development of highly efficient recyclable magnetic adsorbents.

New highly luminescent 3D Tb(III)-MOF as selective sensor for antibiotics

Gang Li et al.

Summary: A stable 3D metal-organic framework (MOF) has been synthesized and characterized, showing intense green emission and sensitivity towards sulfamethazine (SMZ) as a luminescent sensor. The MOF also exhibits excellent stability and recyclability, and the mechanism of deterioration in luminescence intensity in the presence of antibiotics has been explained through theoretical calculations and Hirshfeld surface analyses.

Synthesis and characterization of novel ZnO/NiCr2O4 nanocomposite for water purification by degradation of tetracycline and phenol under visible light irradiation

Abbas Sabahi Namini et al.

Summary: The study successfully synthesized a novel visible-light-responsive ZnO/NiCr2O4 nanocomposite via a hydrothermal procedure. The nanocomposite exhibited significantly enhanced photocatalytic degradation performance for tetracycline and phenol compared to ZnO and NiCr2O4, attributed to improved visible light absorption and the construction of a p-n heterojunction. The study also identified the predominant active species in the photocatalytic reactions and proposed a possible mechanism based on detailed examination of various characterization techniques.

Covalent organic polymer derived carbon nanocapsule-supported cobalt as a catalyst for activating monopersulfate to degrade salicylic acid

Duong Dinh Tuan et al.

Summary: A Co-based catalyst, CoCNC, was proposed for activating MPS to degrade SAC, showing higher catalytic activity and lower degradation barrier. CoCNC can efficiently remove SAC even in the presence of high concentrations of salts, and it is recyclable over many cycles with maintained catalytic activities, making it an advantageous catalyst for MPS activation.
