Effect of Al doping on the photocatalytic activity of ZnO nanoparticles decorated on CNTs and graphene: Solvothermal synthesis and study of experimental parameters

Irshad Ahmad et al.

Summary: The study presents a facile solvothermal route for the synthesis of Al-doped ZnO/graphene composite photocatalyst with improved visible light photocatalytic activity and inhibition of electron-hole pairs recombination rate. Experimental results show that the composite exhibits the highest photocatalytic activity compared to pure ZnO, Al-doped ZnO, and Al-doped ZnO/CNTs, making it a promising candidate for efficient degradation of organic pollutants under sunlight irradiation.

Tert-butylamine/oleic acid-assisted morphology tailoring of hierarchical Bi4Ti3O12 architectures and their application for photodegradation of simulated dye wastewater

Tingting Cheng et al.

Summary: This study reports the morphology tailoring of hierarchical Bi4Ti3O12 architectures using tert-butylamine (TB) and oleic acid (OA), revealing the significant influence of TB and OA content on the resulting morphologies. Photodegradation experiments showed that the nanosheet-assembled hierarchical microrods exhibited superior activity in degrading dye wastewater. Interestingly, the photodegradation process of mixed dye solutions differed from that of individual dye solutions, indicating a complex photodegradation mechanism of Bi4Ti3O12 photocatalysts.

Glucose-assisted ball milling preparation of silver-doped biphasic TiO2 for efficient photodegradation of Rhodamine B: Effect of silver-dopant loading

Imane Ellouzi et al.

Summary: In this study, Silver-doped TiO2 composites with varying loading levels were prepared using glucose-assisted ball-milling. Characterization techniques including electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction were used to analyze the morphology and phases of the composites. The results showed that the photocatalytic degradation of Rhodamine B was most effective when using TiO2 doped with 3% of Ag, indicating an enhancement in performance with silver doping.

Investigation of photocatalytic properties based on Fe and Ce Co-doped ZnO via hydrothermal method and first principles

Nan Qing Yang et al.

Summary: The co-doping of Fe and Ce in ZnO showed enhanced photocatalytic performance for the degradation of organic pollutants, with an optimal doping concentration leading to the best results, although higher doping concentrations led to a decrease in performance. Fe and Ce doping altered the band structure of ZnO, reducing the band gap and introducing shallow donor levels that inhibited carrier recombination and improved photocatalytic efficiency.

Summary: The addition of MWCNT led to a decrease in crystallite size and an increase in surface area, as well as a decrease in optical bandgap energy of CaCu3Ti4O12, making it a promising photocatalyst for environmental applications. Coupling CaCu3Ti4O12 with 0.3 wt% of MWCNT resulted in the highest photodegradation efficiencies under UV and visible light illumination. The kinetic data fitted a pseudo-first-order model showing the potential for enhancing the photocatalytic performance of CaCu3Ti4O12 using MWCNT.
