In-situ formation of unsaturated defect sites on converted CoNi alloy/Co-Ni LDH to activate MoS2 nanosheets for pH-universal hydrogen evolution reaction

Jianing Dong et al.

Summary: This study proposed an efficient non-Pt based hybrid electrocatalyst showing excellent hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) activity in different pH ranges. The research found that the edges of CN/CNL can promote water dissociation to generate H protons and facilitate the release of H-2 on CN and MoS2.

Maximizing the Synergistic Effect of CoNi Catalyst on α-MoC for Robust Hydrogen Production

Yuzhen Ge et al.

Summary: This study reports the synthesis of highly dispersed CoNi bimetallic catalysts on alpha-MoC surface through the strong metal support interaction (SMSI) effect. The as-synthesized CoNi/alpha-MoC catalysts exhibited robust and synergistic performance for hydrogen production from hydrolysis of ammonia borane, with metal-normalized activity surpassing all previously reported noble metal-free catalysts and being four times higher than that of the commercial Pt/C catalyst.

Boosted charge transfer in porphyrin and zinc phthalocyanine co-functionalized graphene oxide nanohybrids toward improved optical limiting and H2 evolution

Aijian Wang et al.

Summary: This study shows that the TPP-GO-ZnPc ternary nanohybrid exhibits superior performance in optical limiting and HER response due to a combination of mechanisms and more effective charge transfer. The strong electronic interactions and charge transfer effect within the TPP-GO-ZnPc has been investigated through UV-Vis absorption, photocurrent response, fluorescence, and electrochemical impedance spectrum.

Regulating the type of cobalt porphyrins for synergistic promotion of photoelectrochemical water splitting of BiVO4

Aijian Wang et al.

Summary: Three novel semiconductor composite photoanodes were designed and prepared by decorating BiVO4 with graphene oxide and cobalt porphyrins bearing different number of hydroxyl groups. The introduction of GO and CoTPP(OH)(n) onto the BiVO4 surface improved charge transfer and broadened light absorption ability. Among them, BiVO4/GO/CoTPP(OH)(4) exhibited the best photoelectrochemical water splitting performance under light irradiation.
