Hybrid electrons in the trimerized GaV4O8

Cintli Aguilar-Maldonado et al.

Summary: GaV4O8 is a new ternary oxide with a unique spin-orbital-charge texture that forms during structural and magnetic phase transitions. The coexistence of orbital molecules on the vanadium trimers and localized electrons on the remaining vanadium atoms creates opportunities for novel spin, charge, and orbital orders in mixed-valent transition-metal compounds.
