Research on the application of vegetable oils in lipid-based nanocarriers has shown superior efficacy compared to commercial therapy, indicating their promising use in nanotechnology for developing safer and more effective pharmaceutical and cosmetic products.
The use of vegetable oils in lipid nanoparticle preparation is a promising field for treating diverse pathologies. Developing these particles requires advanced knowledge of formulation design, preparation techniques, product stability, and proof of concept using performance tests. This review explores the most recent studies on the application of vegetable oils in developing lipid-based nanocarriers. A PubMed search was carried out covering studies of up to 10 years. Topics discussed herein include formulation development and preparation methods, in addition to in vitro and in vivo performance tests. The studies have shown superior efficacy of lipid-based nanocarriers containing vegetable oils compared to the commercial therapy, which highlights their promising use in nanotechnology aiming to provide safer and more effective pharmaceutical and cosmetic products.
