Influence of storage on the physical and chemical properties of Scots pine bark

Johanna Routa et al.

Summary: Bark is currently primarily used for energy production, but the study found that the energy content of bark increased during storage while the moisture content decreased. The extraction of valuable compounds from bark before combustion offers interesting potential uses, but the storage process can lead to significant changes in extractives content and composition.
